Gov. Christine Gregoire has proclaimed Dec. 7 as Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day to honor those who were killed or wounded on that fateful day in 1941, with all state and federal office buildings to lower the flags to half staff.

Reader disagrees with farm subsidies

Back in high school, I worked on a dairy farm in which the Federal government paid the farm approximately a quarter million dollars to destroy all the animals and cease milk production for 10 years. The reason: too much milk supply, which was keeping the price of milk too low.
