For Jared Neiss, a senior at Ronan High School, winning a 2016 Montana state wrestling championship is more than a big victory, it’s a family tradition. Earning rank among his dad and brother drove him through an impressive season and on to earn the state title.
After high school, most athletes don’t get a lot of attention unless they are stars on their college teams. We decided to dig up as many local graduates as possible who continued their athletic career after high school.

This past week, Bret Thompson, the Charlo girls’ basketball coach, was inducted into the Montana Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He has had a great coaching career, and I believe Charlo has been lucky to have him.

As a freshman in high school, I was given a Canon 40D camera and asked to figure out how to work it. I loved taking sports photos. There was so much action, and once in a while, you would capture that moment that told a story without a caption.
