Sunday was the memorial service for legislators that have passed away since the 2009 session. Senator Mowbray did a good job eulogizing Carl Seifert. Carl was a great legislator and represented our area well. My continued sympathy to Peggy and family. Carl will be missed.

Lots of interesting bills last week. We passed House Bill 175 to put medical marijuana repeal back on the ballot in 2012 to let you vote. The floor debate seemed to center on which poll numbers reported by the newspapers were important. I voted for this.

In Lake County, only 7 percent of residential properties have a lower value than the last reappraisal six years ago. That means that 93 percent have increase value. Of that, about 75 percent have values that increased more than 40 percent.
