The local Relay for Life chapter raised $28,631 at the June 18-19 walkathon at the Whitefish High School practice field. An individual from the North Valley Hospital team walked from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m., while three of the 18 teams had a member on the track at all times, including the Whitefish Fire Department, Whitefish Lake Golf Club and North Valley Hospital.

Skillet Fire containment expands with cooler, wetter weather ahead
The evacuation order was lifted Aug. 7 for Good, Alder and Greg Creek roads. Those areas remained under an evacuation warning due to the 3,299-acre fire, which is about 3 miles from the Good Creek community.
