A suspect was arrested in Whitefish on Saturday evening following a standoff involving multiple law enforcement agencies and a K-9 unit.
Officers with the Whitefish Police Department responded to a report of an assault with a weapon on Fox Farm Drive on the west side of the city. Deputies with the Flathead County Sheriff's Office and members of the Northwest Montana Regional SWAT Team also responded.
Officers surrounded the property after the suspect refused to surrender. Law enforcement parked patrol vehicles along West Second Street and kept firearms trained on the property while deputies and the SWAT team launched a drone and used a public-address system to communicate with the suspect.
The suspect ultimately exited the home and surrendered to a Flathead County Sheriff's Office K-9 named Rosso, according to the agency's K-9 unit.
