RENO, Nev. - Marcus Colbert had 15 points and four assists as the Idaho 5A third-ranked Post Falls Trojans beat Reno High 57-45 in their opening game of the Wild West Shootout on Wednesday at Bishop Manogue High.

"I thought we came out OK," Post Falls coach Mike McLean said. "We didn't know anything about them. A couple of their kids got hot in the first quarter and it took us that long to get a feel for how to defend them. Once we did, I thought our defense was good in the second and third quarter at limiting their shots."

Luke Thoreson scored 14 points for Post Falls (3-0), which faces tournament host Bishop Manogue Catholic High tonight at 7:30.

"Both Seth (Anderson) and Michael (Hillman) did a good job of limiting shots," McLean said. "We got to Reno 45 minutes before the game and jumped into our rental cars and went there. This was a good chance to deal with adversity and play a team that we knew nothing about. It was a long day, but a good day for us."

Michael Hillman had 11 points and 11 rebounds for Post Falls.

Jake Johnson had 13 points for Reno.

Coeur d'Alene wins twice, Lakeland beats Lake City

COEUR d'ALENE - Garrett DeMers (195 pounds) won by pin twice for the Vikings in a 45-36 win over the Lakeland Hawks and a 57-21 win over the Kellogg Wildcats in a pair of nonleague wrestling duals on Wednesday at Lake City High.

"We need to do a lot of things better," Coeur d'Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. "We're just not wrestling the way I want them too. We've got lots of work to do. They're giving an effort, but we've got some work to do."

Dustin Hannawalt (126), Austin Hoobler (106), Josh Kaplan (285) and Chase Campbell (170) had two pins each for Lakeland, which also beat Lake City.

"The kids wrestled hard," Lakeland coach Rob Edelblute said. "We had a few battling the flu bug and weren't 100 percent. But we came through with a couple of pins to get a win."

No report was received by Lake City.

All four teams will compete in the Tri-State Invitational starting Friday at North Idaho College.
