Teacher utilizes donated newspapers
Grant Elementary School | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 14 years, 4 months AGO
I want to begin by thanking you and the Columbia Basin Herald for supplying my classroom with newspapers each week. They have become very useful in the classroom. Not only do my students use the newspapers to learn about what is happening in our community, they also use them for many spelling and reading activities. I often have my students use the newspapers to identify words that display the phonic’s skill that we are working on. My students also look for spelling and vocabulary words as they read. This helps my students see how their learning may be applied in the real world as well as build upon their reading skills.
Again, I want to thank you for supplying the newspapers to my classroom. I look forward to discovering more ways to enhance student learning through the use of the newspapers.

Teacher expresses thanks for newspaper
I am writing to thank you for your generosity in donating a bundle of newspapers to my classroom on a weekly basis. These newspapers are used for various educational activities. First and foremost, the students obtain an understanding of how to read a newspaper and begin to understand how to read for current events.
