kNIFVES to hold critics meeting
kNIFVES (Northwest Independent Film & Video Entertainment Society) will hold its 5th annual movie critics meeting and lunch.
The event will be held on Thursday, May 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Davenport Hotel, Peacock Lounge 10 South Post St. in Spokane.
Guests for this year's panel are Dr. Pete Porter, Luke Baumgarten and Tyler Wilson, three critics who represent a broad spectrum of the different roles of the film critic. The panel will talk about Critical Approaches to Understand and "Read" a Film.
The meeting is free to members and first-time visitors, $5 for repeat visitors.

Loftus to perform at Fox theater
Joseph Loftus, 16, will perform the concerto, Symphonie Espangnole by Lalo at 4 p.m. May 20 at the Fox Theater in Spokane.
He has been a member of the Spokane Youth Orchestra for the past nine years, and a member of the senior level of the Spokane Youth Symphony for the past three years, and is currently assistant to the concert master.
He was a winner in the Feb. 26 Spokane Youth Symphony Concerto Competition.
