PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: 'Jacks clinch CIL title for second time in three years

OROFINO - Kari Ghramm finished the day with 33 kills for the St. Maries Lumberjacks, which beat both the Orofino Maniacs and Grangeville Bulldogs in five games of Central Idaho League matches to claim their second league championship since joining the league in 2012.

Kelsey Auer had 30 assists and Ghramm 13 digs for the Lumberjacks in a 25-17, 10-25, 11-25, 25-19, 20-18 win against Orofino.

"Orofino is a good team," St. Maries coach Amy Scheer said. "It took us a bit, we came out on fire and then they did in the next two games. The girls decided to play all out and got us to a fourth and fifth game."

Later, St. Maries avenged its only league loss by beating Grangeville 25-20, 25-14, 24-26, 17-25, 15-12 to clinch the top seed to next week's 2A District 1-2 tournament at Troy High starting on Saturday.

Auer had 36 assists, McKenzie Rose 13 digs for St. Maries (11-9, 5-1 CIL), which hosts Wallace on Thursday.

Central Valley d. Coeur d'Alene

SPOKANE VALLEY - The visiting Vikings suffered just their third loss of the season, falling 25-18, 25-21, 18-25, 25-17 to the Bears (11-0) in nonleague play.

Megan Ramseyer had 18 kills, 11 assists, four aces and 13 digs for Coeur d'Alene (15-3). Missy Huddleston added eight kills, Ali Williams 20 assists and seven digs and Maura Donovan seven digs.

Coeur d'Alene plays host to Moscow on Thursday to wrap up the regular season.

Cd'A Charter falls to Orofino, Grangeville

OROFINO - Jackie Callihan had 21 assists and 19 digs for the Panthers in a 25-20, 21-25, 25-19, 22-25, 15-11 loss to the Maniacs in a Central Idaho League match.

Anna Verhaeghe had 10 kills and three blocks and Madi Aittama three aces for Coeur d'Alene Charter (7-12, 0-6 CIL) against Orofino (11-2, 3-2).

Earlier, Coeur d'Alene was swept in three games by Grangeville (12-6, 3-2).

Stephanie Kociela had five kills and two blocks, Kallie Garn 12 digs, Callihan seven assists and Aittama two aces for Coeur d'Alene Charter, which hosts Lakeside on Thursday.

St. Maries will be the No. 1 seed and Coeur d'Alene Charter the No. 4 seed in the District 1-2 tournament starting next Saturday at Troy High. Orofino travels to Grangeville to conclude league play on Thursday.

Lakeland d. Bonners Ferry

BONNERS FERRY - Haley Rotchford had 15 kills and eight digs, leading the Hawks past the Badgers 25-15, 16-25, 25-19, 15-25, 15-11 in a nonleague match.

"Bonners Ferry is a really scrappy team, so we had a tough time hitting," Lakeland coach Kylee Garitone said. "We did a good job of serving consistently today, and thought our girls played really well and did a good job of pushing through in that fifth game when the momentum could have shifted either way."

Brooklyn Bunch had four aces and 11 digs, Hailey Tierney 15 digs for Lakeland (5-13), which hosts Moscow in a 4A Inland Empire League match on Tuesday.

Country Christian d. N.I. Christian

HAYDEN - Katelyn Stegman had nine aces, eight assists and seven digs for the Royals in a 25-21, 10-25, 25-14, 14-25, 15-8 loss to Country Christian of Pasco, Wash., at North Idaho Christian School.

Ilysa Emerson had eight kills for North Idaho Christian (9-5), which faces Genesis Prep on Tuesday at Real Life Ministries in Post Falls.
