SANDPOINT — Wow, what a week! Montana Shakespeare in the Parks acting troupe comes to the fairgrounds on Sunday for a free performance of the Bard’s class ‘Richard III.’ There’s a film trilogy at the Panida and a mind-boggling slate of live music. Let’s do this:

Thursday, Aug. 18

‘Department Q’ trilogy

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 3 p.m., ‘The Keeper of Lost Causes’ and 5:30 and 8 p.m.-‘The Absent One’, Thursday

This film trilogy is out of Denmark (with subtitles). Not rated, adult content.

Scott Kirby ‘Main Street Souvenirs’

Venue: Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox, 1001 W. Sprague Ave., in Spokane.

Time: 7 p.m., Thursday

Sandpoint music lovers are familiar with the myriad talents of pianist ad visual artist Scott Kirby, who specializes in American and Pan-American musical genres, combining the worlds of classical, folk, and popular music. Scott Reid

Scott Reid has performed at numerous local and regional venues, halls, festivals, fairs, clubs (you name it) for close to 25 years.

Artists’ Studio Tour of North Idaho

Venue: Self-guided driving tour of artists’ studios.

Time: 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Friday

A total of 28 diverse artists will be showing at 16 studios in the greater Sandpoint area, also happening and August 20 and 21. The tour is self-guided, so you choose which studios you visit and when.

‘Richard III’

Venue: Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, Bonner County Fairgrounds, 4203 N. Boyer Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: Entertainments start at 1 p.m., play starts at 6 p.m., Sunday

Montana Shakespeare in the Parks will perform Shakespeare’s ‘Richard III,’ directed by Kevin Asselin.

Arrive early with chairs, blankets, and picnics. Entertainments and vendors of a medieval flavor compliments of the Sandpoint chapter of SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism). Live music includes Desiré Aguirre on hammer dulcimer, as well as students of the Sandpoint Music Conservatory. Vendors will be on hand to offer their wares. This event is hosted by Lost Horse Press, an independent, non-profit poetry press.

Audition Call for Local Musical Production

Venue: Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 5-9 p.m., Aug. 24-26

Auditions are scheduled for an upcoming musical theatre production. Audition times start at 5 p.m., with slots every 15 minutes until 9 p.m. A variety of roles are available - acting, vocals and some dancing depending upon role requirements. The musical will be performed on the main stage of the Panida Theater on Dec. 16, 17, 22 & 23.
