RATHDRUM — The Lakeland Hawks won six matches by pinfall on Wednesday night, beating the Moscow Bears 67-15 at Lakeland High.
Tyler Siegford (132 pounds), Shayne Willette (145), Wyatt Gatten (152), Jared Walker (170), Jack Peed (195) and Antonio Brown (220) won by pin for Lakeland, which travels to Kuna for a dual tonight before competing in the annual Rollie Lane Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa.
“The kids wrestled tough,” Lakeland coach Rob Edelblute said. “We had some young kids in the lineup and with it being some of their first varsity matches, it was a good night for them. Jack, who is just starting his varsity season for us, got a big pin after never wrestling before, and that was great for him. Antonio Brown, he had a tough win against a tough competitor. I thought the kids wrestled well for their first match after Tri-State.”
Royal City, who was scheduled to wrestle Lakeland, cancelled last week.
“We figured it would be a good warmup and get us ready for Kuna,” Edelblute said. “They’re a solid team and it’s going to take everything we’ve got to get them. Our kids are young, but they want to compete hard.”

RATHDRUM — Freshmen Lucas Briner (152 pounds) and Zane Lettau (195) stepped in with five starters out and picked up wins for the Timberwolves in a dual win over the Bears at Lakeland High.
“It was a really good team effort,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said. “We had five starters out with injuries tonight, but have some new kids step up and wrestle really well. Lucas and Zane both stepped in and got some big wins for us. I thought we wrestled pretty good for not having a match in two weeks. I was surprised our conditioning was as good as it was. I think we’re ready to go for the rest of the season.”
Lake City competes in the Pacific Northwest Classic on Friday and Saturday at University High in Spokane Valley.
