SANDPOINT — Here we are in May and what a bounty of choices on the entertainment scene! Friday night, it’s the Lil’ Smokies in concert at the Panida to benefit our own community radio station KRFY. Thursday boasts a West African Koran concert and demo at the library, and Saturday brings the phenomenal Friends of the Library book sale. Sunday you can enjoy Mother’s Day at the Sunday Celebration event at Farmin Park.
Infini Gallery and POAC Gallery both have packed shows that open this Friday evening and the Panida hosts multiple showings of a cool film about Ernest Hemingway’s time in Cuba. And music? Every style, all over town this weekend.

‘Papa: Hemingway in Cuba’

Ernest Hemingway was one of the most important writers of the 20th Century. The legendary Hemingway was on-hand, as a journalist, covering many of the 20th century’s biggest events: World War I, World War II, and the Spanish Civil War. He was also present in Havana for the Cuban Revolution. Rated R

Tales from the Wardrobe presentation

The Sandpoint Friends of the Library host their monthly community interest program with the Bonner Co. History Museum. Explore fashion in Bonner County in the 1940s and ‘50s.

Lil’ Smokies KRFY Benefit Concert

This band is known for their vibrantly sonic musical stew of traditional bluegrass and newgrass. This not-to-be-missed concert is a fundraiser to keep your north Idaho community radio station, 88.5 KRFY alive and thriving.

Walk For A Cure To Diabetes
Venue: Meet at Long Bridge Grill parking lot (south end of the Long Bridge)

Join Kindred Spirits Against Diabetes for a special family friendly fundraising event. Sociable dogs on leash welcome. Water and snacks will be provided.

Brother Music on his Harp Guitar, operating his one-man band, will also add the Native American Flute to the afternoon festivities, where Chris Hughes and other guest performers will also be featured. Visual artists will be in the park creating live art and displaying their talents. A challenge has been issued to the literary arts community, for poetry about mothers and grandmothers in celebration of Mother’s Day.
