Derek Bayley

Washington State golf

Bayley, a junior from Lakeland High in Rathdrum, finished second with a 2-under 211 at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate tournament, which concluded on Tuesday at Palouse Ridge Golf Club. Bayley tied his best single round score in the second round, shooting 65 (-6) to help the Cougars win the tournament with an 842, 19 strokes better than Utah in the 14-team field.

Troy Carr

College of Idaho football

Carr, a 5-foot-11, 205-pound linebacker from Lakeland High, has seven total tackles, one for a 4-yard loss for the Coyotes (1-1), an NAIA school in Caldwell.

Brenna Meehan

College of Idaho volleyball

Meehan, a 5-9 outside hitter from Post Falls High and North Idaho College, had a team-high of 19 kills for the Coyotes (7-5, 2-2 Cascade Conference) in a 25-21, 17-25, 25-20, 25-20 loss to Corban College on Sunday in Caldwell. Meehan leads the team with 165 kills and 118 digs.

Kyle Johnson

Las Vegas 51s baseball

Johnson, an outfielder from Lake City High and Washington State, finished the season with a .244 batting average (19 for 78) in 26 games with four doubles and six runs scored for the 51s, a Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets. Johnson split time between Triple-A Las Vegas and Double-A Binghamton, where he appeared in 51 games and scored 22 runs with 10 doubles and three stolen bases. Las Vegas went 70-74 and missed the playoffs.

Drew Turbin

Delmarva Shorebirds

Turbin, a second baseman from Coeur d’Alene High, appeared in 100 games for the Shorebirds, a long season Single-A affiliate for the Baltimore Orioles, finishing with 67 hits and 36 runs scored. In his final 10 games of the season, Turbin hit .242 (8 for 33) with seven runs scored. Delmarva finished the season 73-66, but missed the playoffs.
