SANDPOINT — Last Friday, the B-52s played one of the best Festival at Sandpoint shows I’ve ever been to. The vibe of most shows at the Festival that I’ve been to has been Sandpoint natives kicking back with friends, enjoying good music, but usually not having heard or knowing too much about the particular performer of the evening.

However, it’s hard to go to a show by the B-52s and not know a single song.

I went in to the show hoping to hear the three songs I, and I’m sure most others at the show, knew: “Love Shack”, “Rock Lobster” and “Private Idaho”. All three were played throughout the course of an hour, and you could bet the crowd was very energized when they did.

However, taking away the band’s three main hits, the concert was still a great one. With the unique and distinct voice of Fred Schneider at lead vocals along with the performances of the rest of the eccentric, crazily dressed band members, the music from the evening was very memorable. There was also comedic commentary interspersed in the set between band members that brought many laughs to the crowd.

In the end, the night was short, but sweet, and it was a show that was altogether energetic, quirky, and memorable; I would have expected nothing less from the B-52s.
