Timberlake boys rally late to top East Valley

SPIRIT LAKE — Jacob James scored 13 points for Timberlake, which rallied from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat the East Valley Knights 51-47 in a nonleague game on Saturday night.

“We’d had enough close games, so it was finally time to win one,” Timberlake coach Michael Scott said. “Chase Gardom made some things happen and got us back in the game and we hit some timely shots down the stretch.”

J.T. Wilfong and James hit 3-pointers down the stretch to give Timberlake the lead for good.

Jordan Hardy added 11 points for Timberlake (2-5), which hosts Priest River on Thursday.

Tyrell Brown scored 16 points for East Valley.

SPIRIT LAKE — The host Tigers were outscored 11-2 in the second overtime of a nonleague loss to the Eagles.

“It just came down to making shots in the second overtime,” Timberlake coach Matt Miller said. “They made some shots, and we didn’t. It was a great game the entire way through and neck and neck throughout. It just came down to whoever made some shots at the end, and they did.”

Brooke Jessen scored 15 points, Shelby Starr 13 points for Timberlake (6-2), which hosts Lakeland on Tuesday.

Faith Adams scored 17 points for East Valley.
