The Panida opens “Things to Come” this week and offers Comedy for a Cause to lighten the stress load.

Isabelle Huppert is a commanding screen presence and “Things to Come” showcases Huppert’s warm, wry performance as an academic facing a crisis at home powers Mia Hansen-Løve’s intimate, intellectual film.

Huppert has true talent for understatement while conveying complex conflicts. She has been described as “cool” but powerful. We last saw her in “Louder than Bombs” as a war photographer who dominated the drama. Now, in this Berlin Silver Bear winner from Mia Hansen-Love, she delivers a warm yet wry performance as a philosophy teacher whose life is defined by ideas rather than circumstances.The film plays Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 3, at 5:30 p.m.; and Saturday, Feb. 4 at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

The Panida Little Theater’s favorite comedian, Phillip Kopczynski, returns to the stage Saturday to help raise funds for the second phase of the sound system. Kopczynski, winner of several comedy awards, exploits life’s quirks, his family, his wife and a few other fun topics. He is fun and easy to relate to and leaves audiences happy which is a nice change of pace from the stress of the week.

The show is Saturday, Feb. 4, in the Panida Little Theater at 7:30 p.m.

Dude! “Wayne’s World” is turning 25 and the Panida is helping to celebrate the anniversary of the digitally remastered film. Part of the New York Film Critic Series, it will include a special live Q & A at the end of the film with the actors. Come dressed up in costume or be just be a slacker. One night only on Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.
