MOSES LAKE — The Basin Community Theatre production of “My Fair Lady” opens tonight for six performances over two weekends. Performances are at the Moses Lake High School theater, 803 E. Sharon Ave.
The curtain rises at 7:10 p.m. tonight, Friday and Saturday. The production continues March 16 and 17 with evening performances both days, and a matinée at 1 p.m. March 17.
“My Fair Lady” is a Broadway classic, premiering in 1956 and running for more than six years. It’s the tale of Eliza Doolittle (Maddison Rogers in the BCT production), a girl without much grasp of the King’s English, at least according to Henry Higgins (Daren Vernon). Professor Higgins bets his friend Colonel Pickering (Ed Backell) that he can change Liza’s fortunes by changing her speech.
All Liza really wants is a job in a shop, but her attempt to improve her life attracts the attention of scheming dad Alf (Tim Cloyd).
Tickets are $18 online, $20 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at the company’s website, www.basincommunitytheatre.org. Tickets are $10 for senior citizens (65 years of age and older).
