Neely's 23 lead Genesis Prep boys to win

POST FALLS — Seth Neely scored 13 of his game-high 23 points in the third quarter as the Genesis Prep Jaguars downed the Shadle Park Highlanders junior varsity 63-43 on Friday night at The Courts at Real Life Ministries.

Eli Gonzales added 12 points for Genesis Prep (9-8).

Ethan Pugh led the Shadle JV with 14 points.

Genesis Prep returns to action Feb. 25 vs. Mullan in the semifinals of the 1A Division II District 1 tournament at North Idaho College.

WALLACE — Carter Bailey scored 15 points to lead the Miners past the Spartans at Kirby Krulitz Court.

Hayden Hogamier scored 14 points for Wallace (9-7), which hosts Clark Fork on Tuesday.

“We played really well tonight,” Wallace coach Corey Miller said. “It’s probably the best we have played as team all year long. I’m really proud of the way our guys came together tonight.”

Caden Brennan and Trentyn Kreager scored 13 points each for Priest River (4-12).

SPOKANE VALLEY — Phil Connelly totaled 11 points, 13 rebounds and four steals as the top-seeded Royals held off the fifth-seeded Knights in the semifinals of the Mountain Christian League tournament at The Oaks.

Malachi Bullington added 13 points and 12 rebounds for North Idaho Christian (20-6), which defeated No. 8 seed Covenant Christian 81-37 in the quarterfinals Thursday with mostly a junior varsity squad.

North Idaho Christian plays No. 3 seed Pullman Christian tonight at 7 at The Oaks in the championship game. Pullman Christian upset No. 2 The Oaks in the other semifinal.

Isaac Kuiper scored a game-high 15 points for Spokane Classical Christian.

PRIEST RIVER — Karah Fink had 13 points, nine rebounds and three steals, and Adrie Minish tallied 13 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Spartans (5-14) past the Jaguars (0-17) in the regular season finale for both teams.

Esther Nies scored 12 points to lead Genesis Prep (0-17), which plays Clark Fork in the semifinals 1A Division II District 1 tournament Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at North Idaho College.

Priest River will face No. 1 seed Timberlake in the first round of the 3A District 1 tournament Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Timberlake.

“Timberlake’s a monumental challenge,” Priest River coach Gary Stewart said.

SPOKANE VALLEY — Imelda Bresee had 22 points, 16 rebounds, four blocks and five steals for the Royals in a win over the Knights in the semifinals of the Mountain Christian League tournament at The Oaks.

Riley Jo Anderson had eight points, 10 assists and five steals and Grace Gwin had 12 points for top-seeded North Idaho Christian (18-6), which faces No. 2 seed Pullman Christian in the championship game tonight at 5.

Hannah Vermeer scored 12 points for Classical Christian.

3A coin flip

Kellogg won a coin flip with Bonners Ferry, and will be the No. 2 seed to next week’s 3A District 1 tournament, which begins Monday at Timberlake.

No. 1 seed Timberlake will face No. 4 Priest River at 5:30 p.m., followed by Kellogg vs. Bonners Ferry at 7.

On Wednesday at Timberlake, Monday’s losers play at 5:30 p.m. in a loser-out game, and Monday’s winners meet at 7 in the title game for a berth at state.

The two remaining teams will meet Thursday at 6 p.m. at the higher seed for second place and a berth in a state play-in game next Saturday at Fruitland.
