RATHDRUM — Alex Austin notched a key pin at 138 pounds, and it started the momentum the Trojans way against the Hawks at Lakeland High.
“It was huge,” said Post Falls coach of Austin’s pin of Lucas Williams. “He’s been working hard and did an awesome job. Lane (Reardon, Pete’s son) got a big win for us, and it got our energy going. We knew it was going to be a dogfight against Riley (Siegford of Lakeland), and then John got a big pin at 152. It was a great way to start the night. Even the matches we lost, the kids competed hard.”
“I was happy with the kids performance,” Lakeland coach Rob Edelblute said. “We bumped some kids around in the lineup and see what we could get going. But if you let up against Post Falls, they’re going to counter you. We had some guys that had leads, and our guys got a little lazy and they capitalized on it.”
Post Falls hosts Coeur d’Alene tonight at 7.
Lakeland will compete at the Bonners Ferry Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Lake City takes down
Moscow, Lewiston
LEWISTON — A little effort and energy went a long way for the Timberwolves, who swept duals against the Bears and Bengals at Lewiston High.
Against Lewiston, Solomon Crowley got an escape in the final 10 seconds of his bout at 170-pounds, clinching the dual against the Bengals.
“It was coming down to the wire again,” said Lake City coach Corey Owen of the dual with Lewiston, who the Timberwolves beat 42-39 on Dec. 17 in Moscow. “Solomon had a big win. It was the best we’ve looked all season. The kids are making progress and we scrapped in each match. I was really impressed with our effort tonight.”
Lake City won eight matches by forfeit against Moscow.
Lake City is off until the 5A Region 1 tournament on Feb. 20 at Lakeland High in Rathdrum.
