COEUR d’ALENE — Police arrested a California man who they said was driving drunk.
Hector L. Guzman, 31, of San Jose, Calif. is charged with driving under the influence, a felony, and with driving without privileges, a misdemeanor.
Police responded around 2 a.m. Sunday to a report of a reckless driver in a Coeur d’Alene parking lot.
The driver, identified as Guzman, had reportedly backed into a snowbank when police arrived. He allegedly told police he had been drinking.
Guzman reportedly did not cooperate with a standardized field sobriety test.
Police arrested him at the scene and obtained a warrant for a blood draw, according to court documents, but were unable to find a vein, so the blood draw was unsuccessful.
Judge Robert Burton ordered Monday that Guzman be held on $50,000 bail.
Guzman was previously convicted of driving under the influence in Santa Clara County, Calif. in 2015, according to court documents. He also reportedly has four previous convictions in California for driving without privileges, all misdemeanors.
