COEUR d’ALENE — Junior Gunner Larson scored 20 points and the Coeur d’Alene Vikings jumped out to a 19-2 lead after one quarter en route to a 70-36 victory over the Moscow Bears in nonleague play Monday night at Viking Court.
“We really full-court pressed them from the get-go,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jon Adams said. “We said that’s the identity we want to set — full court, up-and-down transition, let’s see what we got. It was fun to watch them get after it, be aggressive, force turnovers and get transition points.”
Sophomore Carter Rupp hit four 3-pointers and added 19 points for Coeur d’Alene (1-1).
Adams praised the defense of Junus McGraw and Logan Orchard, among others.
“And Alexander Nipp kinda controlled the post at both ends,” he added. “I bet he had 12 rebounds.”
Ian Hillman led Moscow (1-1) with 17 points.
Coeur d’Alene travels to Sandpoint tonight to open Inland Empire League play.
