PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Balanced Trojans roll past Lewiston
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 3 years AGO
LEWISTON — Post Falls didn’t alter much in its second matchup against Lewiston in a little over a week.
The Trojans just got more players involved when it came to the Inland Empire League matchup.
Americus Crane scored nine points and Letti Asper had eight points off the bench for the Trojans, who beat the Bengals 51-36 on Saturday afternoon.
Post Falls beat Lewiston 56-48 in the championship game of the Avista Winter Classic on Dec. 30 at Lewis-Clark State. Hanna Christensen had eight points and Capri Sims scored seven points for Post Falls (14-2, 4-0 IEL).
“We played basically the same offense and defense,” Post Falls coach Marc Allert said. “Today, I really liked the balance in our scoring today.”
With Sims in foul trouble, Asper defended Lewiston post Katy Wessels, who finished with eight points after scoring 22 in the previous matchup.
“Letti was solid throughout the game,” Allert said. “We made her earn her points. Letti did a great job offensively and defensively and was a really big spark for us.”
Post Falls travels to Coeur d’Alene on Friday.
Lewiston (7-8, 1-3) plays Moscow at the University of Idaho's ICCU Arena on Monday, then visits Lake City on Thursday.
