Silver Mountain hosts off-road race this weekend

KELLOGG, ID - Silver Mountain Resort will host an off-road motorcycle race this weekend, June 18-19.
The event will host 500 dirt bikes on Silver Mountain in the Silver Kings Hard Enduro as part of the 2022 AMA West Extreme Off-Road Regional Championship Schedule. The enduro also serves as a qualifier for the grand championship in Tennessee.
As the premier dirt bike competition in the Northwest, Silver Kings’ course is hand-built and designed to challenge riders throughout. The course contains areas that are wet, steep and rocky and have areas of over 2,000 feet of elevation. The demanding course begins at the bottom of the Silver Belt ski trail and contains creek crossings, hills and rock gardens.
Riders will begin with a parade at 8 a.m. on Saturday starting at the Silver Mountain parking lot. The riders will pass through Kellogg and Wardner on their way to Silver Belt to begin the race.
The event will also host amateur races which begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday in a qualifying lap race. Qualifiers will move on to the Fun-duro Main Event beginning at 1:30 p.m.. The Fun-duro will consist of amateurs and professionals. The top finishers will then compete in a four-hour-long competition on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. for a podium finish.
There will be viewing areas across Silver Mountain during the event, and ski chairs 1, 2 and 3 will be available for a bird’s-eye view of the competition. At the starting line of the race will also be the Radio Brewing beer garden, which also serves food.
Adult tickets cost $20 and youth over six years old tickets cost $16 to enter the event. Children under six are free to enter without cost.

Local athletes play in Columbia Basin series senior all-star baseball game
MOSES LAKE — The Sports Council and All-State Baseball announced in a press release that they are hosting the sixth annual Columbia Basin Series Senior All-Star Baseball Game presented by Central Industrial Sales. This annual showcase brings together standout seniors and celebrates the accomplishments of student-athletes from throughout the region. The game will be between some of the top graduating baseball players from across the Yakima Valley and Tri-Cities regions. The Yakima Valley team will consist of Moses Lake’s Noah Hernandez and Othello’s RJay Garza, Quade Gonzalez IV and Aiden Garza while being coached by Othello’s Head Coach Sonny Garza.
Wildcats qualify 11 for Outdoor Championships
INDIANAPOLIS – Central Washington University Track and Field put out a statement Tuesday to announce that 11 student-athletes qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships running from Thursday, May 21 through Saturday, May 23 in Welch Stadium at Emporia State University. Eight female track and field student-athletes qualified. Layla Fields, Zoe Gonzales, and Ashlyn Nielsen all qualified as part of the 4x100m relay team while Donna Marie Harris and Carley Huber qualified as part of the 4x400m relay team. Julie Castillejo will be a relay alternative due to quick turnarounds from some individual events. Ellie DeGroot qualified as a member of the 4x400m relay team as well as for the 400m hurdles. Maliyah Gordon was a qualifier in the shot put. Elise Hopper will represent the crimson and black in four events: the 4x100m relay, the 4x400m relay, the 400m dash, and the 200m dash.
