Whitefish High School speech and debate took second place in the Class A division at the Polson Invitational held Nov. 12.

Whitefish scored 83 points overall. Frenchtown placed first with 108 points. Polson took third with 65 points.

“Although our team was still small, every person on the bus earned sweepstakes points for us. Scoring 84 points was a feat with 10 entries,” Whitefish Head Coach Sara Mueller said.

Glacier High School junior varsity team members also competed. The sole Class AA competitor scored 105 points.

Competitors taking first place in individual events included Glacier’s Marygrace Knuffke, Memorized Public Address, and Whitefish duo Addie Blackaby and Zoe Tremper in Public Forum.

Glacier Head Coach Greg Adkins said the team was fortunate to have its junior varsity members competing.

“I'm really excited about the results from the Wolfpack. The future is awfully bright! Our JV kids held their own against some of the top Class ABC kids from western Montana.”
