NIC VOLLEYBALL: Cardinals drop first conference match

PASCO, Wash. — Abigail Neff, a sophomore setter from Lakeland High, had 36 assists and 11 digs for North Idaho College in a 25-16, 23-25, 25-21, 25-11 loss to the Columbia Basin Hawks in a Northwest Athletic Conference match on Friday.
NIC (19-4, 10-1 NWAC) had won its previous 10 matches dating back to Sept. 16.
Freshman outside hitter Rachael Stacey had 12 kills and 15 digs for NIC. Rylee Hartwig, a freshman from Post Falls, had nine kills and six digs and sophomore Taylin Rowley — a sophomore from Coeur d’Alene — had nine kills and 20 digs for the Cardinals.
Hokulani Sagapolu had 18 kills and 11 digs for Columbia Basin (21-1, 9-1), which has won eight straight.
NIC hosts the Community Colleges of Spokane on Wednesday.
