There is a new 24/7 taxi service serving Mineral County.

Kevin Smith is available to drive people to wherever they need to go at a moment’s notice, if he is not busy, or a scheduled appointment works best.

“Oh, about a month ago,” he said when asked how long he has offered this service.

There have been on-again/off-again private transportation attempts in the area, but Smith has his taxi detailed out with a pleasing reaction at this point.

“I thought calls from bars at 2 in the morning would come in, especially on the weekendsk but I’ve only had one. And when I arrived, the guy changed his mind and said he was going to a house party instead, but he paid me anyway.”

Smith charges $7 for the call and then $2 per mile with a run into Idaho and Missoula under his belt.

“That Missoula one was over $300 when it was all said and done,” he smiled.

Mineral Community Hospital uses his services often, and all the towing companies and first responders have his business cards as semi-truck drivers that have accidents usually don’t have any transportation from the scene.
