COLUMBIA BASIN – State tournaments begin this week, as Royal, Quincy and Wahluke qualified for the 1A boys soccer tournament and ACH and Moses Lake qualified for its respective state baseball tournaments. See below for a full slate of games, meets and tournaments over the next week.

Wednesday, May 17

CWAC girls golf district championship - 9 a.m. at Black Rock Creek, includes Ephrata and Othello.

Warden softball vs Granger - district tournament game at 4 p.m.

Thursday, May 18

Moses Lake track and field at CBBN District Championships - 4 p.m. at Eisenhower High School.

Quincy boys tennis at district tournament - 2 p.m. at Lake Chelan Shores.

Quincy boys and girls track and field at CTL Championships - 4 p.m. at Cashmere High School.

Royal softball vs TBD - 4 p.m., district tournament game.

Friday, May 19

ACH softball vs TBD - regional tournament game begins at 4 p.m. at Franklin Park Fields.

CWAC/GSL boys and girls track and field regionals - 3:45 p.m., includes Ephrata and Othello.

LRS track and field at district meet - 4 p.m. at Colfax High School.

Quincy boys soccer vs Connell/Chelan - state playoff game at 7 p.m. Loser out.

Royal boys soccer vs Seton Catholic - state playoff game begins at 5 p.m. at Montesano High School. Loser out.

SCAC boys and girls tennis day one - 1 p.m. at Yakima Tennis Club, includes Royal and Wahluke.

SCAC boys and girls district track and field meet - 3:30 p.m. at Connell, includes Royal and Wahluke.

Wahluke boys soccer vs Columbia (White Salmon) - state playoff game begins at 6 p.m. at Sammamish High School. Loser out.

Warden softball vs Tri-Cities Prep - district semifinal game at 2 p.m. at Pasco Sport Complex.

Saturday, May 20

ACH baseball vs Crosspoint/Naselle - state tournament game begins at 3 p.m. at Larson Playfield. Loser out.

CWAC/GSL boys and girls tennis crossover - 9 a.m. at East Valley Elementary (Yakima), includes Ephrata and Othello.

LRS track and field at district meet - 12 p.m. at Colfax High School.

LRS tennis at regionals - 9 a.m. at Mead High School.

LRS softball vs Jenkins (Chewelah) - 1 p.m. at Merkel Sports Complex.

Moses Lake baseball vs Olympia - state tournament game begins at 1 p.m at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey. Loser out.

Moses Lake softball at Eastmont - CBBN district title game, begins at 11 a.m. Winner to state, loser plays loser-out game.

Moses Lake track and field at CBBN District Championships - 12 p.m. at Eisenhower High School.

Othello softball vs Clarkston - 2A District 5/6/8 Crossover game at 2 p.m. Winner to state.

Quincy softball vs Omak - district tournament game at 1 p.m. at Cashmere. Loser out, winner plays loser of Cashmere/Cascade (Leavenworth) at 3 p.m.

Royal softball vs College Place - 12 p.m. at Connell High School.

SCAC boys and girls tennis day two - 10 a.m. at Yakima Tennis Club, includes Royal and Wahluke.

Local athletes play in Columbia Basin series senior all-star baseball game

MOSES LAKE — The Sports Council and All-State Baseball announced in a press release that they are hosting the sixth annual Columbia Basin Series Senior All-Star Baseball Game presented by Central Industrial Sales. This annual showcase brings together standout seniors and celebrates the accomplishments of student-athletes from throughout the region. The game will be between some of the top graduating baseball players from across the Yakima Valley and Tri-Cities regions. The Yakima Valley team will consist of Moses Lake’s Noah Hernandez and Othello’s RJay Garza, Quade Gonzalez IV and Aiden Garza while being coached by Othello’s Head Coach Sonny Garza.

Wildcats qualify 11 for Outdoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – Central Washington University Track and Field put out a statement Tuesday to announce that 11 student-athletes qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships running from Thursday, May 21 through Saturday, May 23 in Welch Stadium at Emporia State University. Eight female track and field student-athletes qualified. Layla Fields, Zoe Gonzales, and Ashlyn Nielsen all qualified as part of the 4x100m relay team while Donna Marie Harris and Carley Huber qualified as part of the 4x400m relay team. Julie Castillejo will be a relay alternative due to quick turnarounds from some individual events. Ellie DeGroot qualified as a member of the 4x400m relay team as well as for the 400m hurdles. Maliyah Gordon was a qualifier in the shot put. Elise Hopper will represent the crimson and black in four events: the 4x100m relay, the 4x400m relay, the 400m dash, and the 200m dash.

ELLENSBURG — On Monday, Central Washington athletics announced in a statement the names for the 2026 athletic Hall of Fame class. Jean and Joe Adams (Spirit of Central), Catie Fry (Volleyball), Zak Hill (Football), and Dr. Richard Roux (Meritorious Service).
