Cedar Creek history tour in photos

The annual Mineral County Museum and Historical Society’s Cedar Creek Historic Mining District Tour attracted 93 people who carpooled and filled 2 Superior School busses for a day of history, gold panning, a potluck and music. This is a free event in August or September each year. (Monte Turner/Mineral Independent)
At China Culch in Cedar Creek, visitors were greeted by Ah Hoy (Shirley Iwata) with a living history presentation of the role that the Chinese played in the gold rush. A tour of the Chinese ovens that remain in the hillside was given by Ah Hoy as she explained the brutal living conditions during winter months. Pickleball club swings into Mineral County
After playing golf one Saturday during the summer of 1965, Joel Pritchard, congressman from Washington State and Bill Bell, a successful businessman, returned to Pritchard’s home on Bainbridge Island, Washington, near Seattle, to find their families sitting around with nothing to do.

Nightriders Snowmobile Club adds to annual event
The Montana Nightriders Snowmobile Club is well known for the $1,000 Super Poker Ride the last weekend in January. Up to 400 sledders have partaken in this signature event held in Haugan for the last 36 years.
