Soap Lake Winterfest set for Saturday

SOAP LAKE — Soap Lake will usher in the holiday season with Winterfest Dec. 7, according to the Soap Lake Chamber of Commerce. 


The festival will be an all-day blowout, with a holiday bazaar at the Soap Lake Community Center, 121 Second Ave. SE, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The bazaar will feature local crafters and artisans, festive music and lots of food and beverage for sale. 


The Soap Lake Public Library, located at 32 Main Ave. E., will be busy at the same time, with a book sale and activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 


At noon, head over to the Del-Red Pub for Turkey Bingo, 311 Main Ave. E. And just across the street at the Masquers Theater, a performance of the Masquers’ Christmas play will begin at 2 p.m. 


The play, “A Good Old-Fashioned Family Christmas,” will also be running as part of the event. See our coverage of that play for more information.  


There’s coffee and hot cocoa at the Lakeside Bistro, 14 Canna St. N., at 3 p.m., a musical performance by Soap Lake School District students at 3:30 p.m. at 310 Main Ave. E. and caroling back at Lakeside Bistro starting at 4 p.m.. 


Also at 4 p.m., Santa Claus will make his appearance at Marina Drive and Main Avenue, with gifts for the children and photo opportunities for the whole family.

LIND — The town of Lind lost a substantial amount of its financial transaction records for 2022-25, a situation the Washington State Auditor’s Office attributed to a computer failure. However, the WSAO also recommended that town officials revise some of its financial transaction processes.

EPHRATA — Election filing week is underway in Grant County and there are several key races on the ballot. Candidates have until 5 p.m. Friday to file for candidacy for any of the general election races. These candidates have filed for their respective races as of 12 p.m. May 5.
