EPHRATA – Ephrata High School students worked together to raise $8,700 to support local teenagers in foster care and shopping for “Toys for Teens.” The funds will be going towards buying those teenagers' gifts and necessities and any extra funding will go back to the Ephrata Food Bank.

“This was a record-setting year, last year they had a little over $6,000,” Ephrata School District Communications Director Sarah Morford said.

The funds were raised in competition between advisory classes at the high school. Students and staff collected funds in both cash and gift cards from peers, parents and local businesses in the community.

“This really gained momentum with staff and kids at the high school, and they especially love to shop for their peers which builds a great sense of community,” Morford said.
