The Bulldogs are the No. 4 seed heading into the first round of Western A football playoffs this Friday, when they’ll take on No. 5 seed Bigfork at the Dog Pound at 7 p.m.
Whitefish finished out the regular season in Browning last Friday with a 69-0 win, bringing the team to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in league.
Carson Gulick threw for two touchdowns, one to CJ Thew and one to Jordan Harmon, coming out 7-for-9 on passing as well as and running for another TD.
Seven different Bulldogs scored rushing touchdowns as Whitefish on the way to racking up 249 yards on the ground and 429 overall in the win.
The Bulldogs last played Bigfork on Oct. 9 and came out on top that time with a 42-22 win.
“Anytime you play a team twice is challenging, but we’re making sure our guys are up for it,” Whitefish Head Coach Brett Bollweg said. “Hopefully we put our best foot forward. One game at a time. We’re excited about the chance to do it. To play in the post-season is a privilege, and we treat it as a privilege.”
The coach noted the success of Whitefish’s other fall sports teams, as well.
“I’m excited about where our school is at. Good luck to the boys soccer team on Saturday. It’s cool for Eric [Sawtelle] in his first year to pick up where they left off – that's no small task. And the girls team did a great job at the semifinals last Saturday,” he said. “The volleyball team is in first place, and it’s been a great season for our cross-country crew.”
