Both the Whitefish girls and boys golf teams fared well at the two-day Kalispell Invite Sept. 18-19 among one of the toughest fields of competition they’ve faced as they head into divisional play this week.

Whitefish boys shot 619 over the two days (300-319) good for fourth place. Otto Klein led the way with a sixth-place finish of 70-74 — 144. Teammates Mason O’Neill 75-82 — 157; Aiden Rickets 77-80 — 157; Finn Hobart 81-83 — 164; and Colby Minton 78-87 — 165, finished the effort.

The Whitefish girls nearly came out on top with a second-place two-day finish of 717 (361-356), just behind Glacier’s 713 (341-372). Stella Jaffe shot a powerful 166 total with 83 each day to take fourth place. Karlee Brown was close behind in sixth with 82-88 — 170. Teammates Ava Zignego 100-92—192; Rhylee Scott 96-93—189; Caroline Owens 108-106 — 214; completed the second-place overall finish.

The teams will play at Old Works Golf Course in Anaconda on Friday for Western A Divisionals as they vie for opportunities at state.
