The Mineral County Rec Club’s annual Turkey Trot registration, raffle winner announcements, and snacks were held in the parking lot across from where the new Community Food Bank of Mineral County building is under construction on west Mullan in Superior.
Bessie Spangler, president of the MCRC made mention that as more people participate, there are more dogs that accompany them, which makes the event even better!
Costumes are encouraged at this annual event and that means many participants took advantage of the idea which only added to the festive time.
Warming rings were prepared early Thanksgiving morning by Drew Hanson and other Mineral County Rec Club members, ensuring they would be toasty warm by 9 a.m. whin people started arriving.
The annual Turkey Trot is a winner on so many levels. A wonderful socializing event for residents with their visiting family and friends for the holiday. Exercise before the feasting later in the day. And a fundraiser for the Community Food Bank of Mineral County.
Because the Community Food Bank of Mineral County is in a temporary location while their building is being constructed, the Mineral County Rec Club asked participants to continue donating non-perishable foods as the entry fee, but to consider a financial contribution which is much easier to process as their food inventory is in storage in several different locations this year.
The CFBMC served funnel cakes and fry-bread with hot beverages for the closing ceremony where raffle prizes were given out at the end of the event.
First responders from the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office and the Superior Volunteer Fire Department arrived early and stayed late ensuring everything went smoothly at the annual Turkey Trot.
