Whitefish swimmers dove into the new season at the Kalispell Invite Saturday. Both the boys and girls teams came away with fourth place finishes out of 12 Class A and AA teams.

Liesel Klein led the way on the girls side, earning 24 points for the team through her individual finishes, taking third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:10.33) and 100-yard freestyle (59.46). On the boys side, Gavin Sibson earned 23 points with a third place 50-yard freestyle (24.86) and fourth place 100-yard butterfly.

The girls squad took a hit with a DQ in the 200-yard medley relay but showed their strength in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as Ginger Bergland, Claire Graham, Sophie McDermott and Klein’s combined effort was good for silver. The boys squad took fourth and sixth in their relay races.

The Bulldog swimmers will compete in the Bigfork Invite at Polson Dec. 20.
