WALLA WALLA — Three Moses Lake residents were killed when the car they were in was hit by an oncoming car about 22 miles west of Walla Walla on Christmas Day.

A 34-year-old Moses Lake man, whose name was not released pending notification of next of kin, was driving east on State Route 12 at about 5:15 p.m. when his car was hit by a car driven by Brandon McGary, 22, Benton City. McGary was driving west; his car hit the guardrail and overcorrected, according to a press release from the Washington State Patrol.

McGary drove into the eastbound lane and hit the Moses Lake man's car, the WSP memo said. The crash is still under investigation, and it’s not yet known if intoxicating substances were a factor, it said. Charges against McGary are pending.

The man and one of his passengers, Nashiely Bustamonte, 27, were pronounced dead at the scene. The third person in the vehicle, a 6-month-old boy, died at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. McGary was also injured and transported to Kadlec.
