MOSES LAKE – Washington, Grant and Adams counties saw a slight decrease in average fuel prices this week. However, national prices both saw a slight increase, according to AAA.

“With oil prices posting a modest uptick last week, the national average price of gasoline also inched slightly higher, with just over half of U.S. states seeing increases, while nearly two dozen saw declines,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “As we approach the midpoint of the summer driving season, gasoline inventories remain just below average, while diesel inventories are considerably tighter — keeping upward pressure on diesel prices.”

In Grant County, there was a four-cent decrease this week, putting the average fuel prices at $4.39 in the county, according to AAA. As of a month ago, prices were sitting at an average of $4.34, or five cents cheaper.

Grant County remains ahead of Adams County for average fuel prices for the second week in a row.

Adams County saw slightly decreased prices for the second week in a row, with prices sitting at $4.34, or two cents cheaper than last week, according to AAA. The price is still higher than that of one month ago, when fuel prices were sitting at an average of $4.27.

Both Grant and Adams counties remain in the middle of the pack for gas prices in the state, according to AAA.

San Juan County is the most expensive in the state at $5.45, a 10-cent decrease from last week, according to AAA. Asotin County remained the cheapest at $3.75, which is a 10-cent increase from last week.

Washington State’s average fuel prices saw a slight decrease this week, dropping nine cents from the week before, according to AAA. Average gas prices for the state are $4.40.

Washington remains the third most expensive state to purchase gasoline, with only California at $4.53 and Hawaii at $4.47 to be the only states with higher prices in the nation.

Nationally, gas prices also saw an increase from last week, with prices now sitting at $3.15, a one-cent increase from last week.

Newhouse, colleagues introduce infrastructure bill

WASHINGTON D.C. — On November 21, 2025, a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers introduced the Urban Canal Modernization Act, HR 6279, aimed at addressing the deteriorating condition of urban canal infrastructure across the country. This legislation, sponsored by Representatives Dan Newhouse, R-WA; Mike Simpson, R-ID; Adam Gray, D-CA; and Russ Fulcher, R-ID focuses on providing federal support for the extraordinary operation and maintenance of urban canals deemed to be at significant risk of failure. “As communities in Grant County and elsewhere face serious risks from aging canal systems, it is imperative that we act now to ensure vital water infrastructure is maintained and upgraded,” Newhouse wrote in a statement. “The Bureau of Reclamation’s canals are in dire need of repairs, and the surrounding communities who rely on them would be at risk if they were to fail. This legislation provides local authorities with additional resources to manage these critical pieces of infrastructure while protecting the people and property around canals of concern.”
