A darkly aura, green moonlight and the intoxicating smell of the graveyard arose from the Whitefish Performing Arts Center last weekend.

It was no other than the Addams family, revived by Whitefish High School Theatre students, striking a ghastly, humorous chord.

“It has been a long while since Whitefish High School has taken on a musical,” said Director April Williams. “The kids worked hard learning music, choreography, and the quirky characters that make up Addams Family.”

A few of the odd characters are Uncle Fester, played by David Walz, who is in love with the moon; brother Pugsley, played by Metta Campbell, who just loves to see things explode; and Wednesday, played Madeline Spear, who is a crossbow hunting teenage daughter with a secret: She too is in love, and wants to marry Lucas Benieke, played by Coy Moss.

Wednesday didn’t know how to tell her family the news and on top of it all, the evening brought a ghost-filled family dinner where her parents had to meet his parents.

"You're not crazy enough, that's the problem,” said Wednesday.

The musical was complete with the family pet "THING" zooming around the stage, lots of dark humor, and fantastic group songs.

“May your children grow up to give you as much grief as you have given us,” said Morticia Addams, played by Cassidy Krack.

Altogether, 32 students, about half of them on the tech crew, produced the show.

“Big shout out to our seniors who have been such an incredible force in this show and to our theater program,” Williams said.

“Tristan Shoff, Logan Bingham, AJ Samuels and David Walz, we have been so lucky to have you in the program, taking on so many different roles, sharing your musical talents. We will truly miss each one of you.”
