A woman charged in connection with a 2004 stabbing saw her felony case dismissed in Flathead County District Court last year.

Prosecutors filed an assault with a weapon charge against Tara Desiree Harmon, 45, following the alleged stabbing near the Blankenship Bridge in July 2004, but she wasn't arraigned on the felony until March 2024, nearly 20 years later. She pleaded not guilty on March 14 before then Judge Robert Allison.

At her pretrial conference hearing in July of that year, though, prosecutors successfully moved to dismiss the case with prejudice.

Harmon was one of two people suspected of being involved in the stabbing, according to court documents filed in 2004. The July 24 attack allegedly occurred after Harmon argued with the victim's father.

The victim later told investigators he intervened in the confrontation. While cooking dinner, the victim felt an object stab him on the left side of his back. Glancing around, the victim saw a man he only knew as Bubba running toward a pickup truck.

After trying to pull the man out of the truck, the victim returned to the campfire, when he was stabbed again, this time by Harmon, the affidavit said.
