Whitefish cruised to a victory over Ronan during Friday night’s homecoming football game. All 32 players on the varsity football roster got playing time, contributing to the 65-0 shutout.

The Bulldogs held strong into the fourth quarter, as new players took to the field throughout the game.

“It was fun to see so many guys contribute, and have a complete team win,” Coach Brett Bollweg said. “And they rose to the occasion.”

It also allowed some players, like junior Vance Schwaiger, to show how they are stepping into their roles, Bollweg said.

Schwaiger broke loose for 96 yards on just three carries, including a 31-yard touchdown run.

Cooper Akey snagged two catches from Luke Dalen for 63 yards, both resulting in touchdowns. Adding to the scoring frenzy, Akey and Jordan Harmon also each returned interceptions for touchdowns.

On the ground, Dalen added 42 yards and a touchdown, and was five for five passing for 80 yards and two touchdowns.

Colt Moss, Cole Moses and John Stephens chipped in with solid runs.

Vlad Shestak had a 60-yard kickoff return touchdown.

Sam Rainford added the third pick-six of the game with a 38-yard return.

A botched snap by Ronan also resulted in a safety for the Bulldogs.

Kicker Tait Orme nailed all eight PATs.

This Friday, the Bulldogs are away, playing Polson, who will bring a strong offense.

“We’re going to have to switch our mindset. Excited for the challenge,” Bollweg said.
