WALLACE — A Silver Valley man is facing child sex abuse charges after being arrested last week following a police investigation that began with a report from the victim’s mother. 

Robin Bainter, 36, of Osburn, was arrested Oct. 3, and has been charged with sexual abuse of a minor under 16 years of age, a felony offense under Idaho law. 

The charges were filed by Osburn Police Officer David Bishop, who had been notified by the mother of the victim that her child had alleged that Bainter had touched her inappropriately multiple times. 

According to Bishop’s report, Bainter admitted to the accusation, both to him and via text message to the victim’s mother, acknowledging the inappropriate behavior. 

Before Bishop could begin the interview, Bainter allegedly told him, “I’m sorry, just take me,” according to the police affidavit filed with the court. 

During his first court appearance, Shoshone County Magistrate Judge Keisha Oxendine set Bainter’s bond at $80,000, citing the seriousness of the allegations and public safety concerns. 

The charge of sexual abuse of a minor child under the age of 16 carries a potential maximum penalty of 25 years in prison, if convicted. 

Bainter’s next court appearance is set for Oct. 14. He remains in police custody.
