KINGSTON – It’s thrills, chills, and a scary good time at Patti’s Purgatory Haunted House. 

This is the second year for the haunted house, which is being presented by the Elam family and friends and sponsored by Jim’s Towing.  

“We added three rooms and lots of new scares,” Miranda Elam said. “There’s no real theme, but a little bit of everything.”  

After seeing the popularity of other haunted houses and scary attractions, Elam came up with the idea to create something in Shoshone County that was terrifying, affordable, and didn’t require a trip over Fourth of July Pass.  

“I bought my mom's house a few years ago, and it sat empty for a year when I had the idea to turn it into a haunted house,” Elam said. “It's the perfect place, as the home is over 100 years old and has always made strange, unexplainable noises and creepy vibes. I love every holiday, and we love to create things for families to do as well, so it's a win-win.”  

Clowns, butchers, evil doctors, and zombies are just a few of the characters visitors will run into during their trip through the home.  

Elam understands all kids are different, but said Patti’s Purgatory is not recommended for children under 10 years old. The haunted house is serving up scares from 7-10 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday through November 1.  

The haunted house is located at 100 Brandons Road, near the Snakepit in Kingston, Idaho.
