A 28-year-old Whitefish man accused of fighting police officers at a bowling alley earlier this year pleaded guilty in October to felony assault on a peace officer.
Jacob Ross Aguiar entered the plea before Judge Dan Wilson in Flathead County District Court on Oct. 23. Wilson set sentencing for Dec. 18.
Though Aguiar initially maintained his innocence, he struck a deal with prosecutors Oct. 21. In exchange for a guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to recommend Aguiar receive a deferred three-year sentence.
Prosecutors accused Aguiar of struggling with Whitefish Police officers as they responded to a report of a fight at the bowling alley about 4:45 p.m., March 25. During the fight, an allegedly drunk and agitated Aguiar slammed one of the officers on the ground, leaving him with cuts to his knees and a possible bruise on his forearm.
Other officers subdued Aguiar with help from a bystander, court documents said.
