Kootenai/Shoshone 4-H names horse contest teams

Twenty-five youth recently competed in the Kootenai/Shoshone County 4-H Hippology Contest at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds.

The contest included a written test, two rounds of horse judging, a walk-through knowledge station course, and team-centered presentations on various horse-related scenarios.

Reese Robb, Aralynn Torba, Catherine Perry and Eden Ryan were named to the 2026 junior hippology team.

Melanie Rabello, Sophia Paliotto, Shelby Roberge and Zia Izzard were named to the 2026 senior hippology team.

On March 21, the Kootenai/Shoshone 4-H program hosted its county 4-H Horse Bowl Contest, with 48 youth competing for top honors.

In the junior division, Catherine Perry, Reese Robb, Audrey Johnson, Paisley Laudeman and Aralynn Torba placed in the top five.

In the senior division, Shelby Roberge, Zia Izzard, Kenzlie Gerig, Melanie Rabello and Emery Mort placed in the top five.

Several top finishers from these competitions will represent the county at the Northern District 4-H Horse Contests, scheduled for June 16-17 in Lewiston.

The junior horse bowl team includes Catherine Perry, Aralynn Torba, Roselee Williams, Reese Robb and Kenna Stanley, who will serve as an alternate.

The senior team includes Kenzlie Gerig, Zia Izzard, Melanie Rabello, Shelby Roberge and Sophie Paliotto, who will serve as an alternate.

The Northern District 4-H Horse Contests will be held at the Nez Perce County Fairgrounds in Lewiston.
