Missoula musician Josh Farmer is hard to miss, and that’s exactly why he’s returning to the Mineral County Performing Arts Council Spring Gala at the Superior High School Multipurpose Room.

“Josh is omnipresent on the Missoula music scene,” said Jim Goss, MCPAC Secretary/Treasurer. “I’ve seen him perform at the University of Montana, Caras Park, and venues all over town. He’s incredibly adaptable and knows how to connect with any audience through both his music and his stories.”

That connection made Farmer an easy choice three years ago, and now, after a last-minute cancellation due to illness, MCPAC is bringing him back, this time with his full band, for the Friday, April 17 Spring Gala.

Farmer’s sound runs the spectrum, from soulful ballads to upbeat funk, promising a night that’s as dynamic as it is engaging.

“We’re excited to come back and share our music with a listening audience,” Farmer said. “There’s something special about a crowd willing to set aside distractions and experience music together. The guys in my band are the greatest musicians I’ve ever played with. We’ve been together for over a decade, and I’m grateful for that bond on and off stage.”

For Farmer, music is about more than performance, it’s about community.

“My music has always been about bringing people together,” he said. “The greatest gift is seeing how it connects me to the community I’m lucky to call home.”

A Montana native, Farmer says that sense of place shapes both his life and his sound.

“If my music has a message, it’s a positive one,” he added. “I’m an optimist, and that joy comes through in what I create.”

MCPAC’s Mary Jo Berry says the evening won’t just sound good, as it’ll taste good, too.

“This year’s menu features stuffed pork tenderloin from Superior Meats, creamy mashed potatoes with gravy, roasted carrots, cinnamon applesauce, Caesar salad, fruit, desserts and more.”

Dinner begins at 6 p.m., followed by music at 7. Tickets are $25 and this is the only MCPAC event each year with an admission fee. This event helps support the organization’s other free performances throughout the year.

Tickets are available at Darlows Quality Foods in Superior, by calling Mary Jo Berry at (406) 822-2213, or by emailing Jim Goss at [email protected]. They will also be available at the door.

Farmer said, “It's always a fun crowd in Superior, and we plan to keep the energy up!”
