BONNERS FERRY — A Boundary County man has been found guilty by a jury of inappropriately communicating with a minor in a case stemming from more than a year ago.
Chase Jerrold Invernon, 30, was convicted of one count of child enticement over the internet after engaging in sexual conduct online with someone under 16.
The charge carries a maximum sentence of 15 years, according to the Idaho Legislature.
He will undergo a pre-sentence investigation and a psychosexual evaluation prior to sentencing, which is scheduled for July 8 before Judge Susie Jensen.
Invernon is not in custody pending his sentencing, though he is currently on supervised probation for an unrelated misdemeanor offense.
Court documents indicate Invernon sent video messages showing his genitals to a minor under the age of 16 sometime between Dec. 26, 2024, and Feb. 18, 2025. He also stated in messages that he wanted to engage in sexual acts.
As part of the state’s evidence, prosecutors presented a video interview conducted by Bonners Ferry Police Officer Jeremy Garrett following Invernon’s arrest. Defense attorney Catherine Enright moved to exclude the full video, arguing it violated Invernon’s rights after he requested an attorney.
Judge Jensen ruled that the part of the interview conducted before Invernon requested an attorney could be presented to the jury but ordered the video to stop at the moment he invoked his right to counsel.
Prosecutors also presented screenshots from the minor’s phone, a body camera recording from a Feb. 26, 2025, interview, and data obtained from Invernon’s Facebook account.
Invernon was charged Feb. 19, 2025. He posted a $50,000 bond April 30, 2025 after initially being held without bond.
He remains subject to a no-contact order prohibiting communication with the minor.
