PREP GOLF: Three Badgers place in top 25 at state

EAGLE — Patrick Young, Nolie Hiatt and Callie Bateman each finished in the top 25 at the 4A state golf tournament as Bonners Ferry's boys and girls teams competed at Eagle Hills Golf Course in Eagle on May 11-12.

Young, a freshman, finished the first day in 12th place with a round of 86, before improving dramatically, shooting a 73 on the final day to finish in 11th, just one stroke shy of the top ten.  

Juniors Hiatt and Bateman were Bonners Ferry’s top two finishers on the girls team. Hiatt shot a 107, before improving the next day for a 103. She placed 18th. Bateman had the 25th best score, with a 118 on the first day and a 111 on the last. 

Out of the ten Badgers who golfed at state, eight of them improved from the first to the second day. 

Gabe Warren placed second for Bonners Ferry, shooting a 97 and a 93, to finish tied for 27th on the boys side. Tyler Cordle placed 43rd with rounds of 105 and 107. Marvin Michaels and Kai Aitken finished right behind in 44th and 45th respectively. Michaels shot a 113 and 105, while Aitken shot a 115 and 105.  

Lilly Bremer shot a 122 and 123 to be third for the Badgers girls team and 33rd overall. Eleanor Sheets and Sondra Fairchild placed 34th and 35th, with scores of 133 and 115 for Sheets and 131 and 125 for Fairchild. 

As a team, Bonners Ferry finished 8th out of eight teams in the boys category and sixth out of seven teams for the girls division.
