Hello, this week is my last of writing stories for the Bonners Ferry Herald. Firstly, I apologize to every person who I have met, but who did not know I was going to be leaving. I’m not good at saying goodbye.

Second, I will be using the word “I” a lot in this article. I steer clear from putting my opinion and thoughts in articles, but this is an exception.

I hope that I’ve been able to provide unbiased local news that you, the reader, can appreciate. My goal has always been to tell the stories of what happens in Boundary County. It has been the biggest privilege and most important responsibility of my life to write for this newspaper and the people that read it.

To every individual I interviewed, thank you for taking the time to talk and tell your story. I have enjoyed all of my interactions and consider every moment spent at this paper a blessing.

Living here has been such a blessing, but it has also had its challenges, including living by myself, hundreds of miles from anyone I’ve known. While this community has welcomed me with open arms, I have missed my loved ones.

To everyone on the street who has smiled, nodded or said hello, thank you. This is such a special place in the world, and I feel extremely lucky to have been a small part.

My only wish is that you welcome the next person who takes this job with the same kindness that you have shown me.

Thank you for letting me tell the stories of this beautiful county and I look forward to visiting as a tourist in the future.
