Kootenai County Community Development will be at the North Idaho State Fair to connect with residents and gather public input on the comprehensive plan update and the parks and waterways plan.
Community Development planners will be available at the county's booth in Building 1 to discuss the future of Kootenai County and hear directly from residents.
“We want residents to have a voice in shaping the future of Kootenai County,” said Mike Behary, director of Community Development.
Staff will be available to answer questions and gather input on topics such as managing growth, protecting the community’s quality of life and ensuring future development and public facilities reflect residents' needs and priorities.
Kootenai County Commissioner Bruce Mattare will also be present at the booth from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday to engage with the public on the comprehensive plan.
The updated plans will help guide decisions about future growth, land use, parks, recreation, waterways and other important community priorities, according to the county.
Public participation is an essential part of the planning process, and residents are encouraged to stop by the county’s booth, ask questions, share ideas and provide feedback.
“The comprehensive plan and parks and waterways plan are important tools for thoughtfully planning for future growth while preserving the character and quality of life that make Kootenai County a great place to live," Behary said. "The fair provides an excellent opportunity for us to meet residents where they are, listen to their ideas and hear directly from the community.”
Residents who cannot attend the fair will have additional opportunities to participate as the planning process continues.
