WARDEN — A woman was killed when she crossed into the opposite lane and hit an oncoming car head-on about two miles south of Warden Monday evening.

Jessica Detwiler, 26, no address listed, was declared dead at the scene of the collision, according to a memo from the Washington State Patrol. Detwiler was driving north on SR 17 at about 6:40 p.m. when she crossed the centerline and hit a car driven by Karol Sanchez, 21, Othello.

Sanchez was airlifted to Kadlec Medical Center in Richland.

It was the second collision in that area in two days. A Wenatchee man hit an oncoming vehicle head-on early Sunday morning.

Detwiler was not wearing a seatbelt, the WSP memo said. The case is still under investigation.
