Woman accused of wielding menu board in attack avoids prosecution

A Kalispell woman brought up on multiple charges last year for allegedly throwing a menu board at another person received a deferred prosecution agreement in December.
Judge Amy Eddy dismissed the felony case against 31-year-old Cheyenne Autumn Leaf in Flathead County District Court on Dec. 3 after prosecutors presented the agreement. Leaf originally pleaded not guilty to felony intimidation and misdemeanor counts of assault and obstructing a peace officer at her Oct. 16 arraignment.
Leaf is required to remain law-abiding for one year or see the charges brought back against her. Under the terms of the agreement, she also must keep her defense attorney abreast of her whereabouts, abide by the rules of the group home where she lives and continue to take any prescribed medications.
Prosecutors in charging documents had accused Leaf of throwing a menu board at another person -- wounding them -- in a Kalispell group home on Sept. 26. After the attack, Leaf allegedly warned the victim against contacting the authorities.
When Leaf refused to follow the directions of responding Kalispell Police officers, they deployed a Taser on her, court documents said.
